SPADE – IIT Seminar

Organised by: Calcutta Society for Professional Action in Development (SPADE), Kolkata & IIT Kharagpur, West Bengal, India.
It was a packed hall seminar held jointly by SPADE and IIT Kharagpur at the IIT Salt Lake campus. Rahul Banerjee, an IITian, and his wife Subhadra, took us into their arduous journey towards socio-economic-educational upliftment of the Bhils, one of the third largest tribal community of India.
While most of us have sought green pastures after graduation from our Institute i.e. IIT Kharagpur, Rahul Banerjee adopted the unusual path that had even more enriched our country and brought about unique and indelible changes for the poverty-stricken rural folks and tribes.
We all learned on their sustainability model for organic farming, water resource management, multi-crops farming that they are doing. Rahul Banerjee and Subhadra, his wife defined the action points with great conviction and clarity.
