Bartika workshop at Purulia, January 2024

A full three days workshop was held at Purulia from 12th January till 14th January with all teachers of BARTIKA chain of schools, and seniors from SPADE team. A lively session covering the academic processes being followed and achievements so far along with plans towards still better performance in the years to come. It was the candid inputs provided by the teachers that made the sessions creative and fruitful.

While BARTIKA despite its limited resources aims to reach the farthest child from most underprivileged background in rural areas, and provide holistic education, plans are afoot to deliver in the most efficient manner. The workshop was preceded by recitations and songs from students as BARTIKA stresses on traditional values and practices that were seamlessly integrated into their daily curriculum, ensuring that students were not only educated but also rooted in their cultural heritage. This holistic approach to education was a testament to the school’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals.

Education is the cornerstone of societal progress, and it is imperative that every child, regardless of their geographical location, has access to quality education. The experience in workshop left an indelible mark on all participants of the workshop with better perspective of rural education.

The workshop was a profound reminder that education is not confined to urban landscapes with state-of-the-art facilities. It is difficult, indeed a Himalayan task, but with ardent and persistent efforts, it is replicable and doable in such remote places—not to underplay the basic requisite of financial assistance from donors and unwavering commitment of teachers. It also highlighted the resilience of rural communities and their determination to provide their children with the best possible education. The workshop ended with a renewed appreciation for the processes Bartika Learning Centres are engaged in making power of education transformative and a sense of hope for the bright futures that lay ahead for the students of the Centres.
