The activities performed by NBHMUS during these years:

1. Formation of New SHGs and nurturing of the existing SHGs: A large number of people of Nabadwip now understood that SHGs are basic tools for socio-economic development of the poor women. So, formation of new SHGs and maintaining the old SHGs has become a regular activity of the Federation. The SHGs are strengthened and nurtured on a regular basis to assure that:

  • Group meetings are being conducted on a regular basis (at least twice in a month) for evolving Group norms and take decisions collectively.
  • Group members participate in the different capacity building programs.
  • Group members initiate different Sustainable Income Generating Activities either individually or as a group.
  • Members develop linkage with PRI members and Govt. Line Departments and actively participate in Gram Unnayan Samity, Gram Sansad and Gram Sabha meetings for accessing and / assuring proper implementation of the various Schemes or policies of the Government.
  • Members represent their views and news in Cluster and Federation.
  • Members could raise voice against social evils and problems.
  • Mobilize the SHG members and others for the rights of poor and women.
  • Active role in disaster preparedness activities and responsive to the distressed people

2. Formation of Clusters: Clusters are playing a very important role to assure proper functioning of the Federation. Clusters are formed and assigned the task of nurturing the SHGs. Clusters have performed the following activities to ensure proper functioning of the SHGs.

  • Maintaining the link between SHGs and the Federation.
  • Capacity Building of the SHG members.
  • Monitoring the activities including MIS and other documents of the SHGs.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving at the group level.
  • Assisting the SHGs in interacting with different agencies especially with Gram Sabha and Gram Panchayat functionaries.
  • Participating in different social campaigns and propaganda.

3. Training Programs: With the assistance and technical support of SPADE, a number of Training Programs were conducted for capacity building in different levels of the Federation.
